BS7858:2006 is the revised British Standards Institute code of practice for security screening or personnel and individuals employed within an organization, business or institute. Griffin Security Group work closely with clients to identify fit-for-purpose bespoke solutions to ensure that specific needs are met whilst meeting the requirements of the code of practice.

There have been a number of widely reported cases of employees, some in senior or highly sensitive posts, who have been found out to be fraudulent, in many cases, months or even years after they had been employed.

The implications for the employing organisations have at best been ‘serious inconvenience’ and, at worst, 'extremely damaging' to their reputations and image. Misquoted qualifications for example have resulted in huge drops in share prices overnight, major fines and criminal proceedings.

This Is What We Can Check:

• Personal Identity
  Protects against identity fraud using a cross-referencing check over a number of data sources.
• Employment References
  Obtains personal references from sources provided by candidate, such as previous supervisors, customers, suppliers.
• Work Experience
  Confirms the candidate’s past work experience, periods of employment, positions held and reason for leaving (where available).
• Educational & Professional Qualifications
  Provides protection against bogus qualifications by validating them with the relevant institutions.
• Professional Memberships
  Validates the existence of claimed professional memberships with specific associations.
• Directorships
  Validates current and previous senior appointments and highlights any disqualifications that are in place.
• Criminal Records Checks
  with the Criminal Records Bureau to establish the existence of any criminal record. Griffin is an Umbrella Body under the CRB.
• Credit History
  Establishes the applicant’s financial status including any adverse information

Criminal Records Bureau

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) provides access to information across England and Wales about criminal convictions and other police records to help employers make an informed decision when recruiting staff.

The information provided by the CRB is known as a ‘disclosure’.

The CRB provides two levels of disclosure – standard and enhanced.

Any organisation carrying out less than 100 CRB checks per annum does not meet the minimum threshold requirements of registration with the CRB, and so has to use the services of an Umbrella Body.

As a CRB approved Umbrella Body, Griffin will be responsible for the administration and checking of the CRB Disclosure Application Forms behalf of your organisation.
